New to the whole Christian thing? Curious? The Gospel is Good News!
THERE IS GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS
The word ‘gospel’ means ‘good news.’ The Gospel of Jesus is good news. Jesus came to give us the good news that God is a real person, that He loves us and that He wants to have a daily relationship with us!
Great, so what’s the bad news? The bad news is every human being is born into this world separated from God’s love and sinful by nature. AND God will condemn us for our sins! God is totally good and cannot tolerate any amount of sin (bad) in our lives.
GOD’S SAVING LOVE
Enter Jesus Christ, Saviour and Lord. Lord means supreme ruler. Saviour means, well, saviour.
Jesus came to tell us about God’s love and to deal with the sin problem that was keeping us from that love.
Jesus lived a perfect human life and died as a pure holy sacrifice to take away our sin. With sin out of the way, nothing stands in the way of us receiving and enjoy God’s love.
You can now have a relationship with God. This new life is given by God’s grace because of what Jesus did. You can do nothing to earn it. It is a free gift. It is yours when you put your trust in Christ.
This gift is free (to you). It cost God all He counted most precious to secure it. The death of His only Son.
GOD’S SALVATION WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE…for better and for worse.
Hearing about God’s love and trusting Jesus to save you from sin and God’s judgement will change your life. Turning from your old life without God, to a new life with Him, will see many Good things come your way.
You will experience His love, forgiveness, and a changed heart. You will get a new appreciation for the Bible. You will also notice a change in your attitude and actions. You will begin to think differently about some of the things you used to do and enjoy. All this is the result of God at work in you.
Turning to God will also bring some unpleasant things your way. Because some of your opinions, attitudes and activities change many people will misunderstand you, mock you and reject you. Turning to Jesus has cost many people their friends, family and even their lives. It’s a sobering thought.
So why do so many accept Jesus if this is the case? Simply because any loss you face for Christ will be worth it, just to know Him.
